Best Practices for Storing Packaged Drinking Water Safely

October 05, 2026 4 min read Plant Safety Officer

The compliance label on every Jal Boond bottle highlights a crucial directive: 'Store in a cool, dry and hygienic place. Keep away from direct sunlight.' Adhering to this principle ensures the water retains its refreshing purity across its 6-month shelf life.

Direct sunlight and excessive heat can alter the physical integrity of PET polymer containers and accelerate ambient temperature shifts. Water should always be sheltered in shaded, ventilated storage rooms.

Furthermore, packaged drinking water must never be stored on damp floors or alongside aromatic chemicals, gasoline, or strong spices, as vapors can compromise secondary packaging.

For retail stockists and hotel banquet stores, cartons should be stacked neatly on pallets no more than 5 to 6 layers high to preserve carton integrity.
